How much does an Airbus cost?

How much does an airliner cost? I get this question quite often, and, although I always try to explain that there is no single "price".

Aircraft prices can differ significantly, even when talking about one specific type of aircraft, and hardly anyone might be paying the "official" catalogue price, because  of large order discounts, differences in engines, interiors, etc. 

However, and to set things in context, the following table, that I have received today from Airbus, is quite illustrative of the price scale across the different types and sizes of airliner currently produced by the European manufacturer.
