The new and old Airbus Beluga

This summer saw the first flight of the Airbus Beluga XL.

Built on the basis of an A330, the Beluga XL, will bring about a much awaited enhancement of Airbus internal logistics capabilities.

Although the new Beluga XL has 30% more capacity than the current ones, that are based on the A300-600 (for example, it can carry two A350 wings instead of one), the current Beluga fleet will stay in service for a few more years, bringing the total Beluga fleet to 8.

In any case, I thought it was a good opportunity to recall this post I did some time ago, when I had the chance to visit the Beluga's lair in Toulouse and even get inside of one of them.

The Beluga, both old and new, is beautiful on the outside, but here you will also be able to see how it looks like inside, including the characteristic bubble-like cargo hold.
