Aviation in the Falklands, 40 years after the war, my latest for TPG

As the Falkland Islands (which the Argentinians call the “Malvinas”) marked 40 years of the end of the war, I had a look at what is currently the commercial aviation landscape in this remote British archipelago.

In fact, you would be surprised to learn that there are currently some flights between the Falklands and Argentina, and that there is even a direct (although usually not nonstop) link to the UK as well (on a mixed civilian-military carrier called AirTanker, which flies for the British government!). But so far, these last two years the main issue affecting air connectivity hasn’t been war, but covid restrictions.

With these lifted, the Falklands prepare for the return of tourists. LATAM already announced, for example, that in the coming weeks is reinstating its flights to the South American mainland!

In any case, you can read the whole piece here!
