Longyear (LYR), in Svalbard, an Arctic archipelago under Norwegian sovereignty and roughly half way between the North Pole and the Norwegian mainland, has the honour of being the Northernmost airport with regular commercial traffic anywhere in the World.

This makes it already quite a special place to fly into (and a destination that figures quite high up in my wish list!) and also an amazingly magnificent setting for Norwegian to display one of its beautiful Dreamliners (sporting the Roald Dahl portrait on its tail!).

What follows is a series of pictures Lasse Holm, from Norwegian Air Shuttle, took of this Dreamliner expedition to this very extreme outpost.
