ANA, ready for Star Wars release with C-3PO ANA JET

Star Wars fans have reasons to celebrate, particularly those living in Japan.

In addition to the upcoming movie “Star Wars Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker”, Japanese airline ANA has just announced the December schedule of its Star Wars-themed C-3PO™ ANA JET.

ANA is certainly not new to the Star Wars craze: three of its aircraft have been painted with special liveries evocative of the famous science-fiction saga (and there is even a dedicated website, “The Star Wars Project”, for those interested in the matter)

C-3PO™ ANA JET, a Boeing 777-200, is one of this triad (the other two are R2-D2™ ANA JET, a Boeing 787-9, and BB-8™ ANA JET, a B777-300). Between 1-14 Dec it will be flying between Tokyo Haneda and Osaka (Itami, the city’s domestic airport) and Fukuoka.

As it is common in these cases, the special theme is not constrained to the outside of the aircraft (we have seen it with Belavia “World of Tanks” or Brussels Airlines “Best of Belgium” aircraft, for example). ANA has gone to great lengths to come up with a Star Wars atmosphere in the cabin as well.

In this case, headrests and crew uniforms also play the part.

Passengers will also receive a “boarding certificate” attesting that they flew on the iconic C-3PO™ ANA JET.

If you happen to be a member of ANA’s frequent flyer programme, Mileage Club, you stand a chance to win some prizes (you have to register first!) such as an original 1:200 C-3PO™ ANA JET model plane autographed by actor Anthony Daniels, an original C-3PO™ ANA JET pin badge or an original C-3PO™ ANA JET FriXion ballpoint pen.

By the way, this is not the only eye-catching aircraft that ANA is operating this year: check out our report from Toulouse about the delivery of ANA’s Hawaiian turtle-themed Flying Honu A380 earlier this year!
